This position involves assisting with various tasks, including patient interaction, optical measurements, eyewear dispensing, and pre-exam testing. The Certified Ophthalmic Technician helps patients navigate frame and lens selection, provides education on eyewear options, and ensures a seamless experience from start to finish. With expertise in optical products and strong customer service skills, the ideal candidate will contribute to the overall success of the practice by ensuring patient satisfaction, accurate record-keeping, and efficient operations. This role requires certification and a passion for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.        FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:  1. Patient Assistance & Education: * Greet and assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on prescription, style preferences, and budget. * Educate patients on different lens options, coatings, and frame materials to help them make informed decisions. * Provide guidance on proper eyewear care, maintenance, and cleaning. 2. Pre-Exam Testing & Measurements: * Perform routine pre-examination tests, such as visual acuity, visual fields, pupil distance, GDx, refraction measurements, tonometry, and dilation. * Accurately record and document patient medical history, optical prescriptions, and test results. * Ensure patient data is properly entered into the system for seamless follow-up. 3. Eyewear Fitting & Adjustment: * Assist with fitting, adjusting, and ensuring proper alignment of eyeglasses for comfort and functionality. * Make necessary adjustments to frames and lenses to achieve the best fit and appearance for each patient. * Teach patients how to use contact lenses. 4. Optical Product Knowledge & Inventory Management: * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of optical products, including frames, lenses, and lens coatings. * Monitor inventory levels, track product usage, and help with ordering new stock as needed. 5. Administrative Support: * Assist with patient check-in/check-out procedures, including verifying insurance information and processing payments. * Schedule patient appointments and follow up with reminders for eyewear orders or follow-up visits. * Maintain accurate patient records, including orders for eyewear, adjustments, and prescription updates. 6. Customer Service & Follow-Up: * Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient concerns, answering questions, and ensuring satisfaction. * Follow up with patients regarding eyewear orders, delivery status, and any necessary adjustments after purchase 7.
