Job Title: Certified Payroll Specialist
Location: Remote OR Hybrid if located in El Paso, TX
Department: Admin/HR
Reports To: VP of HR

POSITION SUMMARY:

Wright Construction Group is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Certified Payroll Specialist to manage payroll operations with a focus on compliance for government and prevailing wage projects. This role ensures accurate payroll processing, certified reporting, and adherence to federal, state, and local regulations specific to the construction industry.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of payroll experience, with a focus on certified payroll and construction industry compliance.
  • Strong understanding of prevailing wage laws and certified payroll reporting.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities
  • Set up new employees in payroll software.
  • Collect, verify, and process employee timecards and daily reports.
  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for employees and contractors.
  • Ensure accurate calculations of hours worked, overtime, deductions, contributions, and reimbursements.
  • Prepare 401K and deduction audit reports.
  • Calculate and process complex payroll entries including prevailing wage and fringe benefits.
  • Handle off-cycle payrolls (corrections, bonuses, terminations).
  • Manage direct deposit processing.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports.
  • Assist with garnishments and tax updates.
  • Maintain accurate electronic payroll records.
