Certified Peer Support Specialists provide community-based support to individuals and families experiencing mental/behavioral health and/or substance use–related crises. This role focuses on engagement, supportive skill coaching within scope, and connection to resources—working alongside licensed clinicians and the broader multidisciplinary team. --- Support, Safety, and Team Culture • Team-based mobile response model (including two-person response when deployed) • Training and safety protocols provided for mobile response work • Ongoing supervision, coaching, and support --- Key Responsibilities (Shortened) Mobile Crisis Peer Support (Community-Based) • Provide peer support and engagement services during and after crisis contacts, aligned with program protocols and scope of practice. • Support de-escalation efforts through rapport-building, grounding strategies, and supportive communication (within training and program standards). • Assist individuals/families with coping and wellness strategies and connection to natural supports, as appropriate. • Help individuals navigate next steps, including linkage to services, benefits/resources, and follow-up appointments as appropriate. Care Coordination and Team Collaboration • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (clinicians, prescribers, care coordinators, and supervisors) to support participant needs and follow-up planning. • Communicate relevant updates to the team consistent with confidentiality requirements. • Connect individuals to community resources (housing/food supports, benefits, transportation resources, support groups, etc.) as appropriate. Documentation and Professional Practice • Complete documentation accurately and on time in accordance with program, payer, and regulatory standards. • Maintain appropriate peer boundaries, professionalism, and confidentiality consistent with HIPAA and agency policy. • Participate in team meetings, supervision, training, and quality improvement activities. --- Required Qualifications • High school diploma or GED required. • Active Maryland Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) certification in good standing. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse populations. • Ability to remain calm, supportive, and professional in crisis situations. • Basic computer skills and ability to complete required documentation. • Successful completion of required background check and required training. Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience in mobile crisis, crisis stabilization, emergency services, community behavioral health, PRP, MTS, or related programs. • Familiarity with Prince George’s County resources and referral networks. • College coursework or degree (Associate’s or Bachelor’s) is a plus. --- How to Apply Apply directly through this job posting platform.
