ABOUT US

The Manistee Friendship Society is a non-profit organization with the mission to provide a safe place for socialization, support, education, and activities for adults living with various degrees of mental illness. MFS is governed by a Board of Directors. .

Essential Functions:

  • Support, mentor, and assist members in achieving community inclusion, participation, independence, recovery, and resiliency.
  • Must possess computer, typing, phone proficiency, and excellent communication and customer relations skills to effectively interact with members, business partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Facilitate health and wellness classes and groups. (Examples: anxiety/depression, anger management, arts & crafts, addiction support, etc.)
  • Participate in required training as identified by the Executive Director, including but not limited to CPR & First Aid, Recipient Rights, etc.
  • Participate in meetings and training as requested to maintain or improve proficiency. Comply with all agency policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have received or be receiving services from a public mental health system for a mental health issue in the past and currently in recovery. (Anxiety, depression, bipolar, PTSD, etc.)
  • Must have or be willing to work towards the Peer Support Specialist Certification as required by MDHHS. (The center will pay for the employee’s training if needed.)
  • No work experience is necessary, and there is a 90-day probationary period.
  • Follow specific and defined policies, procedures, or instructions (written or verbal) to carry out virtually all job duties.
  • Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License and a good driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Pay: $16.00 - $16.50 per hour
