We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated Support Worker to join our care team. The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of Parkinson’s disease and the ability to navigate and support the complex and evolving needs of individuals living with Parkinson’s. Experience in dementia care is also essential, with a demonstrated ability to apply strategies that enhance comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
This role involves delivering person-centered care in diverse environments such as home care, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes. A genuine commitment to enhancing the lives of our clients through attentive, respectful, and skilled care is essential.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated understanding and hands-on experience with Parkinson’s disease care is a must.
  • Proven experience supporting clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or other cognitive impairments.
  • Previous work in home care, long-term care, or assisted living environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medication administration, care planning, and use of medical terminology.
  • Background in caregiving, personal support work, or nursing is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a deep commitment to person-centered care.
Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, dressing, mobility, toileting, and safe feeding practices.
  • Provide support with meal preparation and medication reminders or administration, following proper protocols.
  • Create and maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment through light housekeeping duties.
  • Offer meaningful companionship and emotional support, especially for those experiencing cognitive or physical decline.
  • Monitor and document changes in client condition; promptly report concerns to healthcare professionals.
  • Communicate effectively using basic medical terminology and maintain accurate care documentation.
  • Deliver skilled care strategies tailored for clients with Parkinson’s disease, including support with mobility, medication timing, tremor management, and safety precautions.
  • Implement best practices for dementia care, including validation techniques, redirection, and sensory-based engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare providers and family members to ensure cohesive and comprehensive care.
