Shifts will primarily be during daylight/evening hours. The hours are subject to change based on the business needs of the department. The Certified Pharmacy Technician is a valued step in UPMC Pharmacy Career Ladder. *Applicants will be placed into the appropriate job title and salary based on their individual experience and education* · Pharmacy Assistant: ($18.49 – $27.76) · Pharmacy Technician: ($18.89 – $28.39) · Certified Pharmacy Technician: ($19.76 – $29.64) Responsibilities: Communicates daily with nursing staff, physicians, and other UPMC personnel. Travels between facilities as needed to support pharmacy operations. Maintains a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment. Completes required documentation (e.g., medication credits, charge forms, logs). Assists in training staff and pharmacy students. Restocks and manages automated dispensing cabinets. Operates pharmacy equipment (e.g., pneumatic tube, fax, printers, computers). Inspects and removes expired/recalled medications from all assigned areas. Fills, delivers, and documents interdepartmental medication orders. Provides customer service via phone, in-person, and pneumatic tube system. Handles controlled substances per protocol. Repackages medications and prepares non-sterile compounds with documentation. Prepares sterile products (e.g., IV admixtures, chemotherapy) using aseptic technique. Labels and delivers medications, ensuring pharmacist review before dispensing High school diploma or equivalent. Employment experience required: Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained and maintained including required continuing education credits.
