As a Pharmacy Technician, you will assist pharmacists in preparing, dispensing, charging, and delivering medications. You will serve patients across all age groups and contribute to a high-performing, patient-focused pharmacy team. Responsibilities: Collaborate daily with nursing staff, physicians, and other hospital personnel to support patient care. Travel between UPMC Pinnacle facilities as needed to complete pharmacy activities. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment, including restocking, cleaning, and medication management. Prepare, label, and dispense medications, including non-sterile compounds, IV admixtures, and specialty products under pharmacist supervision. Fill and manage automated dispensing cabinets, interdepartmental orders, and medication deliveries. Inspect and remove expired or recalled medications, ensuring proper documentation. Assist in training staff and pharmacy students on procedures and best practices. Operate pharmacy equipment effectively, including pneumatic tubes, computers, and automated dispensing systems. Adhere to proper handling procedures for controlled substances and ensure accuracy in documentation. Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives and promote UPMC Pinnacle’s mission, vision, and values. High school diploma or equivalent. Employment experience required: Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained and maintained including required continuing education credits.
