Overview Functions as a pharmacy technician as defined by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners. Assists pharmacists in preparing and distributing sterile and non-sterile medications, maintaining accurate drug product records, and assessing medication inventory. Responsibilities SUMMARY: A complete list will be available with the job description and covered during an interview. - Creates and maintains patient profiles within the pharmacy system. - Performs accurate data entry by selecting the correct drug product, interpreting sig codes, and entering all other prescription components. - Performs third party billing and resolves insurance rejections. - Prepares medication orders by counting, measuring, or reconstituting the drug product. - Accurately compounds sterile and non-sterile products, including intravenous medications, creams, ointments, suspensions, and solutions, in accordance with facility, state, and federal laws and regulations. Qualifications Education: Must be high school graduate or equivalent. Must be able to proficiently read, write and speak English. Must have strong math skills with some basic algebra. Must type accurately and with moderate speed. Experience: Ability to work with computer systems required. One or more years of community pharmacy experience preferred. License(s)/Certification(s): Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist-Intern (if enrolled in a college of pharmacy) withthe Iowa Board of Pharmacy, prior to commencement of employment. Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or other nationally recognized certification provider.
