Description
Rivers Health is seeking a full-time Certified Pharmacy Technician.  Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory and maintaining patient records.   The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.   1. Enters medication orders into the pharmacy computer system and      possesses a working knowledge of medication pharmacology.   1. Reads and understands written physician orders.   1. Processes and fills medication orders for pharmacists to check.      1. Fills and performs sterile compounding for nonhazardous and      oncology per policy and procedure of department, under the direct      supervision of a pharmacist. Comply with USP and USP      standards.   1. Processes and fills floor stock requests.   1. Checks and replenishes crash carts and maintains proper paperwork.   1. Performs unit floor inspections and drug outdated checks as      Assigned.      1. Packages unit-dose drugs per policy and procedure.      1. Fills medication carts and Omnicell maintenance.      1. Checks in and places in stock drug orders from wholesaler.   1. Credits and returns to stock all discharged patient medications.      1. Assists Pharmacy Director and Pharmacists in training new      personnel within the department.   1. Assists Pharmacists in performing routine tasks so that overall      productivity is maximized.      1. Participates in the development and implementation of team/      department goals so that department operations run effectively and      efficiently.   1. Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.      1. Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.      1. Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on      quality improvement teams.   1. Complies with Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures and      the Personnel Employee Handbook.   1. Completes yearly in-service and educational requirements for the      department and hospital.   1. Performs other related or similar duties as assigned.   1. Review 340B program policies and procedures on an ongoing     basis and offer contributions and changes to ensure 340B     compliance.   1. Develop a thorough understanding of the 340B program. Strive     to consistently improve the overall efficiency, value, and     internal support of the 340B program. Qualifications EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:   High school diploma or equivalent.  Must complete 2080 hours as Pharmacy Technician in Training.  State-registration and National certification certificate as a Pharmacy Technician.  Completion of the PVH New Employee Orientation Program.     WORK EXPERIENCE:   2080 hours as a Pharmacy Technician in Training.  Hospital experience preferred.
