ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Portsmouth Medical Clinic is seeking a PA to join our primary care team. The successful applicant will provide comprehensive primary care services within the full PA scope of practice. These services will include core primary care, health promotion, disease prevention and chronic disease management as supported by the organization.
The Kingston Travel Vaccination Clinic provides consultations to travellers to discuss, administer, and dispense vaccinations and medications to help minimize health risks while abroad. The clinic also provides pre-employment communicable disease screenings.
Position Summary: The PA is an integral and valued member of the Portsmouth Medical Clinic. The PA provides care of patients and families following the guiding principles and standards of the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants. The PA advocates for quality of life for the patients by modelling leadership, ethics, advocacy, and excellence in the assessment process ensuring patient-centred care. The PA actively leads and contributes to team meetings and care planning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Current unrestricted PA Certificate of Competence from the Canadian Associaiton of Physician Assistants
· Current Professional Liability Protection
· ISTM Certification of Knowledge considered an asset
· Reprocessing in the Community Setting certificate from Public Health Ontario considered an asset
· Excellent leadership, organization, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and computer skills
· Fluent in both written and spoken English

· Completes independent system-focused assessments to facilitate diagnosis and follow up
· Collaborates and assists the physician with assessments and procedures
· Completes telemedicine and virtual assessment as needed
· Liaises with the team, including other health care providers, patients, and family, to provide and promote excellence in care and the patient experience
· Collaborates with community partners to support best-practice guidelines
· Provides leadership and direction to the direct care staff
· Administers medications and treatments as prescribed within the PA scope of practice
· Documents all care, assessments, and observations as per regulatory guidelines
· Mentors, supports, and encourages newly hired staff and students
