Description JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Pharmacist and with assistance from the Lead Registered Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing technical support in performing various functions that are authorized by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy as per the Texas Pharmacy Laws and Regulations including but not limited to: distribution of prepackaged prescribed medications/drugs, pharmaceutical preparations, and cashiering functions. Responsible for demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over a life span. Must be able to identify and categorize each patient’s age-specific grouping of needs, such as those of infant, adolescent, or geriatric patients. Responsible for compliance with other requirements affecting the Medical Center, such as State/Federal regulations, (i.e. HIPAA), PCMH, DSHS standards and Compliance Performance Improvement (CPI) standards. Successful completion of a State authorized Pharmacy Technician Training Course with current certification and registry as required by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: At least one year experience as a Certified/Registered Pharmacy Technician in a healthcare environment preferred. Clerical and computer experience preferred. CPR certification required.
