JOB SUMMARY:

To provide operational functions including instrument processing and terminal sterilization for various departments and entities throughout the healthcare system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduate of high school or GED equivalency examination.
Experience: Two years experience in preparation, decontamination and sterilization of instrumentation preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Certification in sterile processing required.

Attention to detail. Familiarity with computers and various computer programs. Respectful of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment. Demonstrates ability to use the instrument tracking system or preference sheet system for proper tracking and set preparation. Able to interpret and apply professional guidelines/standards (AAMI/AORN). Able to identify problems and recommend solutions/application of critical thinking. Able to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks quickly in a fast-paced environment.
