Position Summary: Assists in performance of procedures for the surgical patient in a manner consistent with established policies and procedures. The Certified Surgical Technician First Assistant (CSFA) will support the continuity of care for perioperative patients. The scope of practice includes intraoperative surgical first assisting. The CSFA will provide intraoperative surgical care under the direct supervision of the surgeon for all ages and/or provide direction to the perioperative team where needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Key Results Areas (KRAs): Coordinate with hospital supplies, equipment, and instruments needed for surgery Scrub and assist in surgical procedures Review and update physician's hospital preference cards as needed Transport and up-keep of physician's surgical instruments Assist in office procedures as needed Customer service (Patient and Physician) Other duties as assigned Requirements Education & Experience: High School diploma or equivalent Required Completion of a Certified Surgical First Assistant Program that includes didactic and supervised clinical practice based on the Association of Surgical Technologist (AST) and/or National board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) core curriculum for the certified surgical technician first assistant Required At least 2 years experience work experience in related field Required, 5 years Preferred BLS, Basic Life Support certification Required STFA/CSFA Certification Required Physical Demands & Environmental Conditions: Work environment: operating room setting in hospitals, surgical centers and office.
