Townsen Surgery Center - East Dallas is looking for a Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team in Mesquite, Texas! The Surgical Technologist is responsible for all aspects of the operating room on procedure days, scrubbing in and assisting the physician for all cases. After completion of each case, the surgical technologist will be on standby for sterile technician needs which include decontamination, preparation packaging sterilization and sterile storage while adhering to department policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Works with specialty surgical instrumentation, troubleshoots problems and repairs • Assimilates and communicates information received from various sources that is in an accurate, timely, and effective manner • Identifies and follows manufactures instructions to sort, disassemble, decontaminate, rinse and disinfect instrumentation, flexible scopes, equipment • Utilizes count sheets consistently to correctly assemble, protect, wrap containerize and/or peel pack and label instrumentations • Delivers instrumentation to as needed to the operating room • Makes rounds through the operating rooms consistently and confirms instrumentation needs are met • Facilitates room turnovers, adheres to the proper handling of garbage, linen, and biohazardous materials • Follows manufactures recommendations for sterilization methods and selects appropriate sterilization methods • Documents and verifies sterilization loads and biological test properly to determine the efficacy of the sterilization process • Handles sterile product and ensures stock is places in the proper location • Identifies and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality • Assembles and prepare instrumentation for sterilization • Organizes the workflow, problem solves, and manages, multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision • Protects patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records • Maintains professional competences and certifications • Maintains awareness of safety hazards and maintains a clean and orderly work area • Performs other duties as assigned  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Knowledge of Medical Terminology • Demonstrates strong knowledge of sterile technique related to operating room preparation and procedures • Demonstrates proficiency in medical and surgical technology • Demonstrates strong knowledge of operating equipment and supplies EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • High school diploma or GED • Diploma from an accredited Sterile Processing Program • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified Townsen Surgery Center - East Dallas is an ambulatory surgery center specializing in providing high quality and safe patient care.
