Description Van Lue Veterinary Surgical is a surgical referral practice seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician or someone with similar experience level; prior experience as a surgical technician in a surgical specialty hospital or academic university position is a plus. Extensive experience with basic lab work, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy and patient care is expected. We are seeking an individual who has advanced anesthesia nursing skills, the ability to multi-task and maintain a professional demeanor in a sometimes stressful environment. You must be flexible and willing to take on diverse responsibilities, with a desire to grow professionally. Requirements Candidates must have knowledge and experience in/with the following: General anesthesia including pre-anesthetic/induction protocols, intubation, and proper preparation, use, and maintenance of anesthesia machines, analgesic protocols including the calculation and administration of CRIs, monitoring of anesthesia (experience with ECG, spO2, BP, etc), and being responsible for anesthetic recovery. Prior experience with surgical/referral pets and pet owners is a plus - i.e., with regard to owner communication, patient admission and discharge, assisting with surgical reports, and use of practice management software. Preparation of patients for surgery - proper clipping, prep/scrub, and positioning. Proficient in sterile gowning and gloving, comfortable everyday experience with surgical asepsis and aseptic technique with regard to the patient and operating room environment. Experienced in taking radiographs.
