Key accountabilities: Performing treatments, diagnostics, and nursing care for shelter and clinic patients: Venipuncture, radiographs, dental prophylaxis, laboratory diagnostics, and vaccinating and restraining animals in accordance with organizational protocols. Performing surgical procedures: Safely and efficiently anesthetizing and preparing patients for surgery, monitoring patients at all stages of anesthesia, and calculating drug dosages. Maintaining accurate patient records and cleaning and maintaining equipment, surgical quarters, and animal areas as needed Using a welcoming, supportive, and non-judgmental approach with all clients, co-workers, and volunteers. Qualifications: Veterinary Technician Certification required Experience in a veterinary clinic and/or animal shelter preferred Able to partner with clients, staff, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds Demonstrated alignment with our mission, people-centered philosophy, and organizational values of compassion, respect, and kindness; innovation; professionalism; equity; and positive approach Able to navigate emotional aspects of animal welfare work Able to successfully meet the physical demands of the job, which include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Must be able to routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Hiring range: $22-$26/hour Hiring bonus: We are offering $3000 in hiring and retention bonuses for new full or part-time CVTs! New full-time or part-time CVTs will be eligible to receive a $1500 bonus gift upon completion of 90 days of employment and a second $1500 bonus gift after completion of six months of employment! That’s $3000 total! To be eligible, the employee must maintain full-time or part-time status at the time the bonus is administered. The bonus will not be prorated if an employee does not reach the 90 day and six month timelines.
