JOB SUMMARY

The CFO is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of financial and operational strategies, metrics tied to that strategy, the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. In addition, the CFO will be closely involved in operational aspects of the company including monitoring project performance, ensuring contract compliance, evaluating risk mitigation efforts, improving equipment and fixed asset utilization, as well as other areas.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years in financial management, with 5+ years in an executive role in the construction industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA preferred
  • Experience in the construction industry, preferably in underground utilities
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Expertise in accounting software and ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Proven leadership ability to manage cross-functional teams and influence company-wide decision making
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics
  • Strong business acumen and excellent understanding of corporate finance
  • Proven success in risk management
  • Excellent legal and contract management skills including issue resolution of legal and insurance claims
  • Experience leading teams in HR, IT, legal, and safety

Responsibilities
  • Assist in setting company direction and tactical plans
  • Develop financial strategies and lead budgeting processes
  • Collaborate with CEO and Board for quarterly meetings
  • Develop KPIs and foster collaboration with the management team
  • Maximize profitability and improve operational efficiency
  • Lead teams in accounting, HR, IT, legal, and safety
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and manage financial reporting systems
  • Guide financial decisions and maintain internal controls
  • Report on financial performance to the management and Board
  • Develop risk strategies and ensure legal compliance
  • Review and negotiate legal agreements as well as legal and insurance claims
  • Develop tax strategies in collaboration with advisors
  • Guide policies on governance, regulatory, and tax issues
  • Review and supervise adaptation of technology systems and platforms
