Description Are you ready to make a lasting impact on the financial health of a community-focused critical access hospital? Harlan County Health System is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team and help shape the future of our organization. About the Role As the CFO, you’ll serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, working closely with the CEO to provide financial leadership and ensure the continued strength and stability of our organization. This role oversees all financial operations, including accounting, purchasing, billing, accounts receivable, collections, and compliance. You’ll help drive financial strategy, safeguard hospital resources, and support informed decision-making that benefits both our patients and our community. What You’ll Do Provide fiscal leadership as a member of the senior leadership team. Develop and oversee financial policies, procedures, and reporting systems. Lead the budgeting process and long-term financial planning initiatives. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory accounting requirements. Oversee revenue cycle operations, including billing and collections. Manage year-end audits, cost reports, and financial statement preparation. Serve as the organization’s Compliance Officer. Partner with the CEO and investment team to oversee hospital accounts and investment portfolios. Communicate effectively with the CEO, Board of Trustees, leadership team, and external partners. Who You Are A strategic thinker with strong financial acumen and leadership experience. Skilled at developing teams, improving processes, and building trust across departments. Comfortable making data-driven decisions and providing clear financial insights. An effective communicator with the ability to present complex information clearly. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting required. MBA or advanced degree in a related field preferred. Experience in healthcare finance or a similar regulated environment strongly preferred. Proven leadership experience managing finance and accounting operations. Physical & Work Environment Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed and navigate throughout the facility.
