POSITION TITLE: Manager, Human Resources LOCATION: Champs Aldergrove Facility WHO WE ARE Champs Mushroom, a part of Southmill Champs is Western Canada's largest mushroom distributor located in the Fraser Valley of southwestern British Columbia. As a prominent leader in the mushroom marketing genre, Champ's Mushrooms consistently provides leading concepts in distribution & quality control for the mushroom industry. Our growing business is seeking an experienced HR Manager who possesses proven leadership skills, as well as a strong ability to deal with change across a multi-site operation and make sound decisions that encourage corporate growth. POSITION OVERVIEW Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources. The Human Resources Manager’s primary role is to implement an HR Strategy and Plan that supports the company’s strategic business direction and play a leadership role in creating a work environment that drives individual employee engagement and retention of high performers. The secondary role of HR Manager is to identify and implement innovative and competitive human resources strategies and practices that develop a high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment of personnel; productivity and product quality; superior safe work practices; and compliance with corporate, industry, and regulatory standards. The position will be responsible for all day to day running of the department and will also manage three HR personnel roles. KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS * Employee Relations * Total Compensation * Recruitment & Selection * Performance Management To be considered for this newly created position you must meet the following minimum qualifications. * Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP) is an asset. * Relevant HR degree / diploma + minimum 5 years HR management or senior HR advisor level experience. * Strong people orientation balanced with an understanding of business needs. * Experience in the food manufacturing industry. * Experience in a culturally diverse work environment. * Fluent in Windows / MS Office environment plus HR information systems. * Knowledge of current best practice HR approaches. Applies knowledge to development and application of overall human resources strategy, plan, policies, processes, and practices. * Up to date knowledge of BC employment legislation including Duty to Accommodate, Employment Equity Act, Human Rights legislation, Privacy Act, Labour Relations Code, and Workers’ Compensation Board. * Knowledge of hiring under Agricultural stream is desirable but not essential * Takes initiative to improve HR practices and processes. * Ability to drive results but also possesses the ability to lead managers and employees to buy into new human resources initiatives and approaches. * Problem solving ability and proven analytical skills and resourcefulness to effectively resolve people issues using a win-win approach whenever possible. * Strong facilitation and coaching skills to assist managers in resolving workplace issues. * Working knowledge of company operations, structure, and positions in order to integrate understanding into human resources planning and initiatives. Monday to Friday 40 hours per week.
