Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Executive Director, Development, Satellite Campuses and Office of the President the Chair of Employment Options provides leadership, management, and administration for faculty and support staff involved in the delivery of provincially funded Employment Services and other specially funded employment projects. The Chair also provides leadership, management, and administration for faculty, support staff and administration involved in the development, delivery and evaluation of all programs and services offered at the Espanola and Manitoulin campuses including academic upgrading, post-secondary apprenticeship, continuing education courses, contract training and special projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement, and administer Employment Ontario funded programs; negotiate budgets and performance standards with the Ministry or Service System Manager.
  • Initiate program planning, activities, and decision-making pertaining to effective program delivery.
  • Support staff, instructors, and clients through a weekly presence at Espanola, Manitoulin, Chelmsford, and Val Caron sites.
  • Lead the planning and development of non-Employment Ontario activity at the Espanola and Manitoulin campuses; effectively manage budgets, facilities, and staff for these campuses.
  • Initiate and authorize payment for financial commitments and facilities.
  • Develop and maintain positive, on-going relationships with community partners in employment and literacy services delivery, industry and business representatives, and advisory committee members.
  • Promote and participate in the planning, negotiating, and implementing of partnership arrangements within the community.
  • Ensure that all employment and educational programs and courses are relevant and meet the guidelines and criteria established by external funding agencies.
  • Lead academic and non-academic training programs to prepare clients for entry to work, return to work, and upskilling.
  • Ensure that curriculum content of department programs is of the highest quality, is well documented, and reflects the latest developments.
  • Negotiate contracts with external agencies such as Service Canada, provincial Ministries, and Ontario Works for the delivery of services and special projects.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of new programs, services, and special projects and on-going review of existing programs in accordance with current business/industry standards and College and Ministry approved criteria.
  • Promote the Mission Statement, image, programs, and services of the College throughout the community; develop and administer a marketing strategy for all campuses supervised.
  • Keep informed through training sessions and through current and revised Health and Safety and Emergency policies and procedures; ensure staff are aware of the Occupational Health & Safety Act provisions and fully informed on the College Health and Safety and Emergency Procedures.
