QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical Degree from an accredited University
  • Candidate must be board certified or board eligible
  • 5+ years of clinical experience
  • Leadership experience preferred but not required
  • CT license or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Connecticut
  • A strong work ethic and desire to participate in a team-oriented, performance-driven health system
  • Ability to respectfully collaborate and build relationships with a diverse set of teammates
  • Ability to thrive in a constantly evolving environment, challenging the status quo and striving to innovate and improve care delivery

  • As Chair of Neurology you will oversee all aspects of department strategic planning, growth, and operations focusing on quality neurological care at St. Vincents Medical Center including:
  • Leading the development and enhancement of departmental clinical and educational activities, in accordance with the facility s mission and vision
  • Supervising all professional activities and clinical staff within the Department and within subspecialty divisions of the Department
  • Leading staff including appointing departmental members to committees, establishing and coordinating faculty and staff development, periodically evaluating faculty and staff as well as all faculty appointments, reappointments, and promotions according to Medical Staff By-Laws
  • Ensuring professional performance of all practitioners with clinical privileges in the Department
  • Collaborating with administrative and nursing leadership to build a team-based clinical environment
  • Developing hospital focused quality metrics
  • Outreach to EMS services

As Stroke Director of St. Vincent’s Medical Center you will champion the delivery of advanced stroke care and treatment options for patients and oversee and participate in evaluating, maintaining, and improving performance processes and metrics required for comprehensive stroke center status. The Director will collaborate with neurology, neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology, nursing, and other disciplines to lead quality improvement initiatives to improve clinical outcomes, patient experience, and further advance the stroke program. The Director will lead and supervise the education and mentoring of faculty, residents, and students.
Clinical Responsibility: This position includes 60% clinical coverage which may comprise inpatient and/or outpatient clinic coverage depending on specialty.
This role reports directly to the Vice President of Medical Affairs, St. Vincent’s Medical Center & the Co-Physician-in-Chief of the Ayer Neuroscience Institute.
