ACADEMY OF FILM  Chair Professor / Professor / Professor of Practice and Director (25260536) Overview The Academy of Film is a leading force in cinematic and creative media education, with aspirations that extend well beyond Hong Kong’s local film market. Its influence is reflected in the achievements of its respected faculty—many of whom are distinguished filmmakers and scholars —and its alumni, who are recognised across Asia and beyond. In recent years, the Academy has furthered its global engagement through initiatives such as the Global University Film Awards, which have garnered significant international attention and participation. State-of-the-art facilities support this vision, including the recent installation of two world-class virtual production studios, ensuring students and faculty work at the cutting edge of industry practice. Supported by strong industry connections and a commitment to excellence, the Academy of Film continues to cultivate talent equipped for the global screen industries. Established as the Department of Cinema and Television in 1991, today’s Academy of Film has grown into a leading hub for screen and media education. Renamed in 2009 to reflect its broader ambitions, the Academy is now part of the School of Creative Arts alongside the Academy of Music and Academy of Visual Arts, supporting a multidisciplinary approach that extends to art-tech and global entertainment business. Energised by innovation and driven by a spirit of creative exchange, the Academy of Film is a place for makers and thinkers ready to push boundaries and shape the future of screen arts.
