Description:
SHYPS is a newly formed Pathology Network with 4 laboratory sites across Scarborough, Hull and York. Forming the network has presented many challenges, opportunities, and changes.
We have several large digital projects being implemented and many more lined up. We also have numerous opportunities for laboratory Quality Improvement projects to improve harmonisation across the network, reduce variation, realise efficiencies and ultimately improve outcomes for our patients.
This role will be key to identifying and leading a range of Quality Improvement projects across the network and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within our teams.
The SHYPS team is working hard to transition to our target operating model and this role will be key to identifying and facilitating the actions required to maximise our potential.
The post can be based at any of our Laboratory Sites (Scarborough, Hull or York) and can include an element of flexible/home working, however regular travel to all sites will be required.
The role would be suited to either
A Biomedical Scientist with experience of implementing digital pathology systems and demonstrable experience of leading change projects; or
An experienced project /programme manager with experience of working in the NHS and leading change in a healthcare setting (ideally within pathology).
The post holder will be supported by a project support officer.
The post holder will be expected to work with laboratory teams to maximise the use of the newly implemented LIMS system to drive transformation and harmonisation across the network.
The post holder will link between the SHYPS and the digital departments of our partnering trusts and GP practices to support and implement changes driven by SHYPS or requested by our users
The post holder will engage with NHS England and will bid for funding opportunities, develop business cases and monitor benefits. They will work closely with pathology system providers to ensure we are at the forefront of innovation and providing the best possible service to our patients.
The post holding will proactively identify and lead innovative changes and work to foster a culture of Quality Improvement within the laboratory workforce through training, development and positive engagement.
The post holder will provide line management and development support to a project support officer who will be undertaking an apprenticeship in Project Management.
The post holder will develop and maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and act as a focal point for innovation and change programmes within the Network.
