JOB DESCRIPTION

The DESNZ Transformation Directorate are defining what our department needs to look like in the immediate and longer term to be fundamentally ‘mission-driven’ – through its operating model, arm’s length bodies landscape, the organisational capabilities it needs, and supporting systems, processes, and structures. We play an active role in leading the delivery of organisational change, ensuring that change is coherent and manageable for our workforce, balancing competing demands on resources, and supporting senior leaders to make informed decisions through the provision of expertise and insight.
The Change Manager role is all about getting to the heart of complex organisational challenges, then designing and delivering meaningful improvements. The successful candidates will work closely with senior stakeholders across DESNZ to identify risks and issues that cut across the Department’s organisational capabilities, functions, responsibilities and arm’s length bodies. These are often big themes that need the support of many different teams and colleagues from across the organisation to deliver and improve. The Change Manager’s job is to bring people together to design solutions to these challenges and steer work from concept through to implementation.

We are advertising two roles:

  • One will primarily focus on organisational transformation within DESNZ including integrating the opportunities from digital and AI into the organisation.
  • One with an initial focus on the development of arm’s length bodies’ operating models.

However, both roles will be expected to work across the portfolio as needed.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

We are looking for candidates with experience of designing and delivering change in organisations, from start to finish. Key skills required are:

  • Change Management – an understanding of how to manage the process of change within organisations.
  • Project Management – the ability to successfully manage projects from inception to completion.
  • Problem Solving – the ability to identify, analyse and develop solutions for complex issues and challenges.
  • Analysis & Data – the ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative data sources using appropriate methods to generate insight.
  • Communication – the ability to effectively exchange information, ideas and messages with others through a variety of methods.
  • Stakeholder Management – the ability to identify and proactively engage with key stakeholders of your work.

This job is broadly open to the following groups:

  • UK nationals
  • nationals of the Republic of Ireland
  • nationals of Commonwealth countries who have the right to work in the UK
  • nationals of the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein and family members of those nationalities with settled or pre-settled status under the European Union Settlement Scheme (EUSS)
