Buckner Retirement Services Community: Baptist Retirement Community Location: San Angelo, TX - Onsite Address: 902-903 N Main St, San Angelo, TX 76903 Job Schedule: Full-Time We are seeking a Chaplain to join our community committed to delivering outstanding service to our senior adults, families, caregivers, staff, and volunteers. As a Chaplain, you will play an important role in providing grief and crisis counseling and pastoral care interventions. Join our team and inspire happiness in the lives of others! Prepare food items using Westminster Place standardized recipes and ensure that all food meets quality and service standards. What you'll do: Initiate, develop, deepen, and bring to an appropriate close a mutual and empathic relationship with the resident, family, caregiver, or associate to gather and evaluate information pertinent to each resident’s situation and/or bio-psycho-social-spiritual/religious health. Using appropriate techniques and instruments, perform an assessment of the spiritual/religious, emotional, and social needs, hopes, and resources of the resident with his/her assent. Advance directive planning and end-of-life ministry. Respond to deaths, medical emergencies, and traumatic events. Develop and implement an individualized plan of care to promote resident well-being and continuity of care. Involve the resident, family, caregivers, and other health care providers and the resident’s local spiritual/religious community as appropriate in the assessment and plan of care. Define desired outcomes, interventions, and plans in terms of the resident and the resident’s values, spiritual/religious practices and beliefs, ethical considerations, environment, and/or situation. Conduct a systematic and ongoing evaluation of the outcomes of each resident in relation to the interventions prescribed by the plan of care. Timely and accurately document information, outcomes, interventions, plans and evaluations in the resident’s service record or medical record that is relevant to the resident’s medical, psycho-social, and spiritual/religious goals of care. Documentation should include, but is not limited to, spiritual/religious preference, relevant information obtained from the spiritual screen, the resident’s involvement in spiritual care activities, and referrals to the chaplain for spiritual assessment and intervention. Serve as an active and collaborative member of the interdisciplinary team to ensure the resident’s wishes and wholeness remain priorities. Actively model and collaborate with other team members in respecting and providing culturally competent resident-centered care. Provide a variety of spiritual/religious resources that reflect the diversity of the population served; provide education to residents and interdisciplinary staff in cultural and spiritual/religious diversity. Adhere to the Common Code of Ethics to guide decision-making and professional behavior. Respect the confidentiality of information from all sources, including the resident, medical record, other team members, and family members, and abide by all applicable laws and regulations. Provide timely and sensitive chaplaincy care to Buckner staff via individual and group interactions in ways consonant with Buckner’s mission, vision, and values. Provide supportive conversations with staff; engage in informal one-on-one support with staff members, celebrate staff accomplishments, provide memorial rituals, and provide bereavement /grief/stress/burnout support. Provide programs for spiritual growth of staff such as daily devotions. Seek and create opportunities to enhance the quality of chaplaincy care practice. Assume responsibility for continued professional development, demonstrate a working and up-to-date knowledge of current theory and practices and integrate such information into the chaplaincy program. Regularly practice evidence-based care including ongoing evaluation of new practices and, when appropriate, contribute to or conduct research. Establish and maintain effective relationships with church pastors, associations, organizational leaders and agencies related to senior adult services in the community. Provide spiritual/emotional assessment and counseling services to senior adults, their families, caregivers in the community. Provide appropriate and accurate information and service referrals to Buckner. Facilitate cooperation and communication concerning denominational issues throughout the community. Plan and lead worship services and retreats related to senior adult issues and programs at the facility, and as appropriate, the community. Participate in conferences, workshops, and retreats on a local level, as requested. Recruit and train spiritual care volunteer staff in all senior adult services programs as required. Work with appropriate churches to develop new Church Volunteer Programs to serve senior adult members of their congregations. Monitor satisfaction of client/agency relationships; maintain communication with Executive Director regarding status of relationships. Consult with other appropriate ministers or religious leaders and industry professionals as needed. Provide effective and appropriate spiritual training; speak as a representative of Buckner to outside groups. Provide timely and accurate information through regular reporting mechanisms related to program effectiveness; complete timely and accurate documentation as required. Answer phones and take messages daily; respond to messages timely. Review and accurately process mail and other correspondence daily. Maintain compliance with all Buckner policies, procedures, and requirements. Work successfully as part of a team and responsible for developing then maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers. Attend and participate in staff meetings and training as required. Perform general office tasks as required. Perform other assignments, projects, and duties as required. What you’ll bring: Bachelor’s degree in theology, divinity, psychology, counseling, social work or a related field. Master’s degree in biblical/theological studies preferred. Current endorsement by religious affiliation for chaplaincy required. Minimum 3 years prior related chaplaincy experience required; experience in delivery of services to senior client populations preferred. Minimum two years pastoral ministry in a church. Professional commitment to Christian principles and teachings so as to perform tasks and responsibilities in alignment with Buckner’s mission, vision, and values. Member of a church affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas preferred. One basic unit of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) preferred. Adherence to the Association of Professional Chaplains Standards of Practice for Professional Chaplains in Long-term Care. Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of cultural and spiritual/religious diversity. Requires the ability to effectively meet the spiritual needs of individuals of various Christian denominations, other faiths, or no faith at all. Ability to develop knowledge of network of services to address issues of senior adult clients and must be able to relate well to the senior adult population. Ability to work cooperatively in team effort with co-workers as consultants and assist in assessment or service delivery to senior clients. Proficient ability to speak, read and write English. A strong sense of diplomacy and demonstrated success in developing strong collaborative relationships with organizational peers and outside colleagues. Requires ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings. Recognized ability to meet multiple deadlines by maintaining a high level of organization. Proficient counseling and problem-solving skills. Ability to travel to various geographic locations with some overnight stays. Requires ability to obtain and maintain the necessary documentation to travel. Ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner’s insurance policy. Requires ability to rent vehicles. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Proficient ability to exhibit detail-oriented skills necessary to understand and manage a wide-range of information. Ability to facilitate meetings, conferences, workshops, and retreats as required. Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer related tasks with specific equipment and software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
