Description

Description The Hospice Chaplain provides spiritual support to terminally ill patients and their families, caregivers, community, facility staff and the interdisciplinary hospice team. The Hospice Chaplain makes spiritual assessments of patients taking into account mental, emotional, physical and spiritual stresses, and responds with appropriate counsel and care which focus on the goals of the patient and their family. Essential Job Functions: Maintains and actively promotes effective communication with all individuals. Maintains a positive image of the entity in the community keeping in alignment with our mission, vision, and values. Responsible for on-call services, as assigned. Develop spiritual programs that meet the needs of our hospice patients. Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the churches or faith groups in the community served. Comply with all regulations pertaining to the healthcare facilities where we are providing spiritual services to our hospice patients. When and where applicable, participate in Ecumenical Clergy groups in the community served. Provide spiritual support to staff as the need arises. Provide Bereavement services to the families of hospice patients. Performs other similar duties, as needed. Requirements Commitment to quality outcomes and services for all individuals. Ability to relate well to all individuals. Ability to maintain and protect the confidentiality of information. Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions. Ability to adapt to change. Experience & Training: Ordained pastor in good standing with their religious organization required. Endorsement as a chaplain by respective religious denomination preferred. Board Certified Chaplain preferred. Experience and comfort in working with seniors required. 2-3 years of experience in working in a retirement community preferred. Completion of at least one Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education preferred. Hours: Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or based on patient's needs 0.8 FTE to 1.0 FTE (32 to 40 hours a week) Pay: $29.07 to $36.07 / hourly (higher pay may be considered depending on qualifications and experience) Location: On the road, metro area
