Atrium Medical Center 1 MEDICAL CENTER DR, MIDDLETOWN, OH 45005 STATUS: SUPPORT As a full member of the healthcare team, the Support Chaplain participates in the Spiritual Care Department’s ministry of presence, spiritual and emotional support, and encouragement for patients, families, and staff. The Support Chaplain also facilitates support groups, provides sacramental and worship opportunities, provides support for patients and families struggling with difficult healthcare decisions, promotes collaboration with local faith communities, and serves as a visible symbol of care for the whole person. Essential Duties & Functions: Assesses needs and provides patients, family members, and staff with spiritual and emotional support. Responds to crises and referrals and supports patients and families struggling with difficult healthcare decisions. Documents spiritual/pastoral support and services provided to patients and families struggling with difficult healthcare decisions. Facilitates the grief process through spiritual/pastoral support, support groups, and education. Plans, prepares, coordinates, and facilitates prayer and liturgical and sacramental ministry opportunities for patients, families, and staff. Accomplishes and cares for departmental administrative and operational tasks and responsibilities as assigned. Serves as a spiritual/pastoral resource to other hospital programs. Participates in and helps facilitate support groups and spiritual enrichment and educational programs Communicates and collaborates with leaders of faith communities to enhance the pastoral/spiritual care of patients and families.
