Lead technical analysis that shapes digital products used every day by New Zealanders Senior people leadership role within our Digital Group Wellington, Auckland or Palmerston North based Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is looking for an experienced Chapter Lead – Analysis who can provide strong technical and people leadership across our Digital Group. This is a senior leadership role for someone who combines deep technical analysis expertise with proven experience leading large, specialist teams in complex environments. You will lead a chapter of analysts who work across a portfolio of high-impact digital and data-enabled products, helping New Zealanders move safely and efficiently around Aotearoa. From shaping product strategy through to delivery, your work will directly influence services and systems used by communities every day across the country. Reporting to the Chapter Area Lead, you will build and grow analysis capability, ensure consistent technical standards, and enable analysts to be deployed effectively into agile delivery squads where they create the most value. What you will do As a Chapter Lead – Analysis, the role will see you: Provide technical leadership in analysis, setting standards, frameworks and best practice across the chapter Lead, coach and develop a large team of analysis professionals, building capability, depth and career pathways Ensure high-quality analysis underpins digital products and platforms that have real-world impact for New Zealanders Partner with Product Owners, Architects, Engineers, Quality Assurance and Delivery Leaders to shape product vision and outcomes Champion agile ways of working, continuous improvement and learning Manage capability and resourcing to support delivery demand, including strategic use of external suppliers Balance technical excellence with delivery outcomes, risk management and business value You will find out more about the role here: Position Description Ko koe tēnei | About you To be successful in this role, you will bring: Significant experience as a technical or chapter lead (or similar role) within analysis or a closely related discipline Demonstrated people leadership experience leading sizeable, specialist teams in a comparable environment Deep expertise in analysis practice, with a strong understanding of how analysis informs product design, delivery and decision-making Experience working in agile or hybrid delivery environments, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams A strategic mindset, with the ability to translate organisational goals into clear capability and delivery outcomes Strong stakeholder engagement skills, able to influence across senior business and technical leaders What sets you apart A passion for developing people and lifting technical practice across a profession A growth mindset and curiosity for emerging trends, tools and techniques in analysis The ability to connect technical work with real-life impact for customers, communities and road users You will also demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to develop your understanding of, Te Ao Māori, te reo Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi as they apply in the public service. We are seeking to appoint at a salary between $188,127 – $209,030, commensurate with skills and experience.
