Charge Nurse 12 HR  - Emergency; Part-Time 0.75; Day Shift Position Summary: Under the leadership of the Unit Director and/or Nursing Supervisor, this first level leadership role is responsible for ensuring quality nursing care by providing supervision (direct and indirect) of personnel and activities in the patient care unit.  The Charge Nurse demonstrates and facilitates professional accountability and communication.  Maintains confidentiality of patient and staff related issues.  Demonstrates knowledge of medical conditions/diagnosis and possesses the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and developmental status of the patients on his/her unit.  The Charge Nurse serves as an excellent clinical resource to all staff.  The Charge Nurse’s job duties include all aspects of patient care and of the nursing process according to the mission, philosophy, policies and procedures of Watsonville Community Hospital.  Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and a broad nursing knowledge.   Education: * As determined by California Board of Registered Nurses. Experience: * Meets all of the requirements of a Staff Nurse II.      * Completion of applicable hospital and Emergency Department competencies within three months of hire/transfer.  * Past leadership experience preferred and/or proven leadership qualities demonstrated.      * One year or more experience in Emergency Nursing. Licenses and/or Certifications: * State of California RN license and American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BCLS required.   * ACLS & PALS required prior to the completion of orientation and independent assignment.   * MICN, TNCC, CEN, CCRN preferred. Other: * Basic Keyboarding Skills and willingness to develop computer competency within six months.  * Fluent in English.  Spanish language skills desirable.  Able to communicate clearly. Days 0.75
