As a Medical Receptionist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our clinics operate smoothly and efficiently, supporting our clinical teams in delivering outstanding patient care. Local Doctors Ōtara – Urgent Care & GP Clinic is a high-volume, community-focused service delivering urgent care and comprehensive general practice to the local whānau 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Clinicians work in a dynamic environment managing a broad scope of presentations, including ACC injuries, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma and mental health concerns, supported by GPs with special interests and a diabetes nurse specialist. The clinic is ACC-accredited and benefits from strong on-site services including X-ray, pharmacy, dental and physiotherapy, enabling seamless patient care. With a large, culturally diverse and supportive multidisciplinary team, excellent public transport access, ample parking, and a central location in the Ōtara shopping centre, this role offers meaningful clinical variety, teamwork, and the opportunity to make a real impact in a high-need, rewarding setting. About the Role As a Charge Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting the junior nurses and providing professional nursing leadership. This position involves both clinical and operational responsibilities, ensuring excellent patient care and smooth clinic operations. Working Hours: 1 FTE Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Support – Provide guidance and support to nursing staff, fostering a positive team culture. Clinical Excellence – Deliver high-quality nursing care, including triage, wound care, plastering, and administering medications. Patient Care & Safety – Ensure all nursing interventions align with best practices and patient safety protocols. Operational Support – Assist in clinic coordination, rostering, and workflow management. Compliance & Documentation – Maintain accurate patient records and uphold professional nursing standards. Health & Safety – Promote a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations. What You Need Current NZNC Annual Practicing Certificate Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience, preferably in primary health care or emergency nursing. Proven leadership skills and the ability to support and mentor a team. Strong decision-making and clinical assessment abilities. Experience with Medtech Evolution or Medtech 32 (desirable).
