* Provides professional leadership and supervises nursing staff throughout the shift. * Acts as a role model, mentor, and resource for clinical and administrative guidance. * Ensures safe staffing levels and appropriate patient‑to‑nurse ratios based on acuity. * Supports staff in clinical decision‑making, conflict resolution, and prioritization of workload. * Provides constructive feedback, coaching, and performance support to the team. * Leads the unit in the absence of the Nurse Manager, ensuring continuity of operations. * Practices within regulatory scope and adheres to DOH and organizational policies. * Supports competency development and education for junior staff and new hires. * Maintains mandatory and medical‑unit–specific competencies. * Participates in clinical audits, research, and evidence‑based initiatives. * Demonstrates ongoing development in leadership and medical-unit management.
