Description
The Charge Nurse serves as the on-shift nursing leader, ensuring safe, high-quality, and compassionate care within the program. This role bridges direct nursing care with unit coordination, supporting staff and promoting adherence to policies, regulatory standards, and evidence-based practices.   Key functions include: * Nursing Oversight: Supervises daily nursing activities, ensuring accurate assessments, medication administration, and timely provider communication. * Staff Support & Leadership: Provides guidance, mentorship, and real-time decision-making to nursing and support staff; promotes a culture of accountability, professionalism, and trauma-informed care. * Operational Coordination: Manages shift workflow, client acuity, and staff assignments to maintain smooth operations and safe staffing ratios. * Regulatory & Documentation Compliance: Upholds nursing standards, agency protocols, and state/federal regulations; ensures accurate documentation in the EHR. * Client Advocacy & Safety: Acts as point of escalation for client needs, emergencies, or complex situations, facilitating collaboration across interdisciplinary teams. * Leads with kindness and compassion, meeting clients and staff where they are and promoting health outcomes. * Strong critical thinking, self-starter, and proven accountability in clinical decision-making. * Skilled in crisis management, de-escalation, and client safety. * Computer literate with proficiency in EHR documentation and ability to learn new concepts quickly. Preferred * Experience in ASAM 3.7 WM or 3.5 residential programs. * Prior charge/leadership experience with staff assignment and mentoring. * Familiarity with trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and MOUD. * Knowledge of CARF, COMAR, CMS standards. * Training in psychiatric, addiction, or withdrawal management nursing. * Bilingual ability (Spanish preferred).
