Charge Technologist – Molecular Pathology Entity: Aga Khan University Location: Karachi Introduction to the Aga Khan University: The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University is a dynamic academic centre which serves the diagnostic needs of the country through its clinical laboratory services that spreads across Pakistan. AKUH’s Clinical Laboratory is College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited and caters to the need of the entire country through its tertiary lab at the main campus and 300+ specimen collection units and 13 stat labs across Pakistan. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine consists of five major sections namely Chemical Pathology, Haematology & Transfusion Medicine, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. Each section is academically driven and is highly engaged in research and undergraduate, postgraduate teaching and training. Responsibilities: You will be responsible for day to day smooth running of the Cytogenetics sub section, administratively as well as technically according to laboratory policies and protocols. You will be responsible to: organize and coordinate the day to day administrative and technical activities of the assigned section according to laboratory procedures and policies for day-to-day smooth running of the section run compliance for laboratory protocol and policy guidelines handle staffing matters such as attendance, discipline, and counselling through random checks and as and when required to ensure that the laboratory and institutional policies are implemented regularly. train and mentor junior technologists execute effective communication of critical results in a timely manner and documentation as per protocol perform high-complexity cytogenetic testing including blood/bone marrow and pre-natal specimens karyotyping analyze and interpret results in accordance with established protocols and finalize reports. create duty rota and authorize approve staff over time ensure compliance of CAP & JCIA standards Requirements: You should have: BS /BSC in Biological Science (4 years Program), Masters (preferred) 3-5 years of experience as a Senior Technologist in Cytogenetics at AKU or 10 years of relevant experience gained at a hospital or knowledge of latest developments in Medical Technology field good knowledge of employee relations techniques Comprehensive employment reference checks will be conducted.
