Charge Technologist, Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Department: Phlebotomy Center- South Karachi. Entity: Aga Khan University Hospital Location: Karachi, Pakistan Introduction: The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University is a leading academic and diagnostic center that supports patient care across Pakistan through its comprehensive laboratory services. The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) Clinical Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and delivers high-quality diagnostic services through its main campus laboratory, a wide network of specimen collection units, and Stat laboratories. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine comprises five major sections: Chemical Pathology, Hematology & Transfusion Medicine, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. The Histopathology section plays a critical role in disease diagnosis and patient management through accurate reporting and documentation. Responsibilities: You will be responsible to: Organize and coordinate the administrative and technical activities of the assigned Outreach Lab on a daily basis according to laboratory procedures and policies for the day-to-day smooth running of the Outreach Lab. Perform routine and STAT clinical laboratory tests or technical procedures and finalize reports according to laboratory protocols. Effective Communication of critical results in a timely manner and documentation as per protocol Ensure quality results by running internal quality control and Participation in external proficiency testing. Maintain records of equipment maintenance, calibration plan preventive maintenance (PPM) according to the equipment maintenance schedule provided or as and when required Compliance with laboratory protocol and policy guidelines, JCIA, CAP, SHCC, and Safecare standards. Handle staffing matters such as attendance, discipline and counselling through random checks and as and when required to ensure that the laboratory and institutional policies are implemented regularly. Encourage staff to keep abreast with the latest developments by arranging monthly departmental lectures, circulating selected articles and attending seminars/workshops as and when available to keep staff's knowledge updated Responsible for implementing safety regulations within the assigned Outreach Lab according to the safety manual through weekly random checks and personal observations to ensure safety of staff, workers, and visitors. Responsible for updating the Outreach Lab policies & procedures manual as per protocols with the Department's Consultant and Assistant Manager/ Manager, Clinical Laboratory Ensure in cooperation of a Reliable Technologist Perform any other responsibilities as assigned Requirements: You should have: BS /BSC in Biological Science (4 years Program), Masters (preferred). 3 years of experience as a Senior Technologist at AKU or 10 years of relevant experience gained at a hospital or laboratory. Thorough knowledge of Laboratory testing procedures. Knowledge of the latest developments in the Medical Technology field. Good knowledge of employee relations techniques. Administrative Capabilities. Comprehensive employment reference checks will be conducted.
