CHARITY DIRECTOR

The Edmonton Police Association (EPA) is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for the right candidate, focused on assisting first responders. We are currently seeking an experienced Charity Director to build and establish our newly created charitable foundation, ensuring its mission is fulfilled and operations are effective. This role involves strategic planning, financial oversight, fundraising, and team leadership, while also upholding ethical standards and legal compliance with the Canadian Revenue Agency. The Charity Director is a leader, manager, and fundraiser, responsible for the overall success and sustainability of the charitable foundation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of, and experience in building a charitable organization from the ground up, creating and maintaining strong connections and relationships within the community, and experience in developing and implementing strategic plans to ensure the foundation reaches its fundraising goals. As this is a newly created foundation under the Edmonton Police Association umbrella, the Charity Director must be able to identify and resolve challenges, work closely with the Board of Directors, and cultivate relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally to the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

· Minimum Five to Seven (5-7) years of experience in the Charity sector with proven results surrounding setting and achieving fundraising goals, event planning, stakeholder relations and working under Board governance. Preference shall be given to candidates who have built a charitable organization or significantly expanded the reach of a charitable organization within the community.
· Relevant education and training in areas of governance, finance, compliance, charity law and/or risk management are required.
· Strong financial acumen, and understanding financial statements, budgeting, and fundraising principles.
· Significant experience in fundraising, including executing fundraising strategies, cultivating donor relationships, and securing financial support.
· Excellent problem-solving skills, including identifying and resolving challenges, making sound decisions, and adapting to changing circumstances.
· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including donors, staff, and the public.
· Experience with social media, multimedia, graphic design, formal communications and marketing strategies.
· Demonstrated Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including board members, volunteers, and staff.
· Fully proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
· Commitment to professionalism, ethical practices, confidentiality and exceptional integrity is required.
· Must be able to successfully undergo Enhanced Security Screening.

· Board Relations: Working closely with the board of directors, providing regular updates, and seeking their guidance.
· Event planning: working to develop charitable events tied to fundraising, planning and running those events while expanding yearly on how to grow them in the public eye.
