We’re looking for a motivated and customer-focused Charity Shop Assistant to help run our welcoming and much-loved charity shop in the heart of Ottery St Mary.
You’ll be supporting the daily operations of the shop - from delivering fantastic customer service and processing sales to creating eye-catching displays and supervising volunteers. You’ll also provide supervisory cover in the absence of the shop manager, including opening and closing the shop and leading on busy days.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Friendly, confident and professional with strong people skills
• Comfortable supervising volunteers and running the shop solo when needed
• Resilient and able to handle occasional challenges such as customer complaints or security issues
• Organised and able to manage multiple tasks at once
• Experienced in a customer-facing role (retail experience is a bonus)
• Passionate about the work of InFocus Charity and ready to be a positive ambassador in the local community

As a key part of our retail team, you will:

• Deliver excellent customer service and assist with purchases and queries
• Use the till and handle transactions accurately
• Keep the shop floor clean, organised and well-stocked
• Help arrange engaging displays and shop promotions
• Supervise volunteers and step in as the senior staff member when required
• Open and close the shop and carry out lone working duties when needed
