Electric Vehicle Digital Design (EVDD) is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities – such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling – to create ground-up breakthrough electric vehicles. We are looking for embedded software professionals to join our agile, technically expert engineering team that is proudly innovative, adaptable, curious, and organized to capitalize on emerging trends and opportunities.
Do you have an interest in vehicle dynamics and control systems? Here is an opportunity to develop the latest chassis controls technologies. These Ford Chassis Controls positions involve a mix of theory, computer simulation, and in-vehicle testing. Examples of technologies we have delivered include Trailer Backup Assist, Lane Keeping Aid, Roll Stability Control, Trail Control and many more. Upcoming projects will continue to push the envelope of Driver Assistance and Autonomous Vehicle Technologies!

You’ll have…

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science, or related degree, or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education6+ months of experience in control systems or software development experience

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with controls and software engineers to develop the SW functions to enable new experiences for our customers
  • Develop specifications and design verification plans for vehicle control systems and features
  • Perform systems engineering on Chassis Controls Features and Function including Failure Mode Avoidance (DFMEA) and Functional Safety
  • Work closely with Ford engineers and Tier-1 suppliers to develop feature interface requirements
  • Perform software functional validation (MIL/SIL/HIL testing), working closely with chassis controls analytical methods test engineers to prove out functions
  • Develop control algorithms using Handcode, MATLAB and Simulink Models
  • Calibrate and test features in prototype vehicles
