MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
- The positions require the successful candidates to have a valid Ontario class G or class F driver’s licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver’s licence upon being hired.
KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- You have demonstrated knowledge of applicable traffic laws in order to transport clients and documents safely.
- You know security procedures and practices in order to ensure the safety, security and confidentiality of clients and confidential government documents en route.
- You have demonstrated knowledge of routine preventative maintenance requirements and techniques including basic automotive technology and vehicle maintenance .
- You have knowledge of Toronto and Ontario road network with the ability to use electronic and paper maps, directories, guides and GPS navigational devices for best route selection.
- You know First Aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques.
ANALYTICAL, PROBLEM-SOLVING AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
- You have proven analytical and problem solving skills to select and/or adjust routes accounting for security concerns, traffic, weather, arrival/departure times; to perform repairs en-route (i.e. flat tire, fluid) or acquire vehicle repairs from external sources to avoid delays and maintain clients schedules; and to determine safe operating condition of the vehicle.
- You have demonstrated interpersonal skills, such as confidentiality, judgement, public relations, discretion, courtesy, tact, diplomacy and political acuity to regularly interact with a variety of contacts including politicians, employees, the general public and dignitaries when responding to potentially sensitive/volatile situations (i.e. press interest in client, irate demonstrators).
- You can use tact and sound judgement when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
