ABOUT THIS ROLE AND WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY WITHIN THE ROLE?

Join our Community Fundraising Cheer Squad and support incredible our fundraisers at events across Scotland. You’ll cheer on people who are making a real difference for those with vision loss and doing your bit to make a more inclusive Scotland.
Your encouragement matters - every cheer shows our fundraisers that their efforts are valued and appreciated. You’ll be the friendly face that proves Sight Scotland stands behind everyone who supports our cause; as a Cheer Squad Member you’ll create positive, celebratory moments that motivate our fundraisers. Whether it’s a sponsored run, Kiltwalk or community challenge, you’ll be there to help them hit their goals, bringing energy and showing that every contribution counts.
This is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact while connecting with your community and supporting visually impaired people in Scotland.

WHAT DOES A DAY IN THIS ROLE LOOK LIKE?

Your day will start with traveling to a community fundraising event – such as a sponsored run, charity challenge, or local fundraising activity. You’ll work alongside our Community Fundraising team, led by a Supporter Fundraiser, and other passionate volunteers to create an energetic, supportive atmosphere.
You’ll be cheering on our fundraisers from the sidelines, bringing positivity, encouragement, and making plenty of noise! You might find yourself capturing special moments through photos or videos (with staff supervision) that help us tell the story of our amazing supporters.
Throughout the event, you’ll engage with fundraisers and members of the public, sharing information about Sight Scotland’s mission and services. You’ll be representing our 230-year legacy of supporting people with vision loss, helping to shift conversations around sight loss, promoting a more inclusive society for those living with visual impairments.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU WITHIN THIS ROLE?

You’ll need excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage positively with people from all walks of life. We’re looking for someone with genuine enthusiasm for Sight Scotland’s mission and a passion for supporting people with vision loss.
Strong time management skills are essential, as you’ll be responsible for arriving punctually at event locations. We value volunteers who bring energy, positivity, and encouragement to every event they attend.
As well as being a reliable and punctual person, you’ll need the physical ability to stand for extended periods and work comfortably in outdoor environments, specifically in variable Scottish weather. But, most importantly, you’ll bring unwavering positivity and genuine commitment to our cause, inspiring others through your enthusiasm. You should be comfortable representing our charity effectively, conveying our mission, services, and goals when speaking with fundraisers and the public.
