We’re hiring Cheesemaker/Milk Grader for role supporting cheese manufacturing processes from start to finish. Tasks may include operating machinery, receiving milk loads, making cheese or conducting quality checks.

Location: Hamilton, ON
Pay Rate: $20 to $25 per hour
Hours: Day shift - up to 10 hours per day - starts between 6am and 8am as per business needs - Monday to Friday - Saturday as needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years professional cheesemaking (or closely related dairy processing) experience
  • Must have access to own vehicle as the location is not on a bus route.
  • Ontario Plant Milk Grader (PMG) certificate highly preferred
  • Nice to have Bulk Tank Milk Grader (BTMG) certification/experience
  • Ability to use all PPE as per GMP requirements
  • Ability to lift to 55lbs independently
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work full time hours as required by this position.
Responsibilities
  • Follow all steps of the cheesemaking process from start to finish (including pasteurizing, setting, cutting, cooking, draining, forming, pressing, and brining) according to instructions. Check and record pH, temperature, moisture, salt levels, and how much cheese is made. Fill out all production paperwork.
  • Run, clean, and sanitize equipment in the make room, including vats, pumps, silos, and pipes. Help with plant-wide cleaning and equipment checks before starting production.
  • Unload milk from tankers. Take samples and check quality following Ontario rules. Approve or reject milk as needed, move it to silos, and test for antibiotics and other quality standards. Keep accurate records and help schedule cleaning of tankers and silos.
  • Follow food safety and hygiene rules, including GMPs, HACCP, cleaning procedures, allergen controls, product tracking, and labeling.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement (yields, waste, downtime); train and mentor assistants.
