JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production, kitchen management, and fine dining experience. As a Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, menu planning, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety. You will lead a team of culinary professionals and work collaboratively to create exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Planning and Preparation:
  • Developing balanced and varied menus, often in consultation with residents and the care home manager.
  • Catering to individual dietary needs, including allergies, intolerances, and cultural or religious preferences.
  • Preparing meals according to specific requirements, such as pureed or textured diets for residents with swallowing difficulties.
  • Ensuring meals are well-presented and enjoyable.
  • Kitchen Management:
  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and controlling food waste.
  • Ensuring all kitchen equipment is in good working order and reporting any defects.
  • Maintaining accurate records, including temperature checks and HACCP documentation.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Working with care staff to understand residents’ needs and preferences.
  • Liaising with other departments, such as nursing and activities staff, to coordinate mealtimes and support residents’ dining experiences.
  • Communicating effectively with residents, staff, and management.
  • Promoting Resident Well-being:
  • Supporting residents to maintain their dignity during mealtimes and promoting independence.
  • Creating a positive and enjoyable dining experience for residents.
  • Being aware of and responsive to residents’ individual needs and preferences.
  • Compliance and Training:
  • Adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations, including food hygiene and COSHH.
  • Participating in training programs related to food safety, first aid, and safeguarding vulnerable adults.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.

Pay: £15.50-£16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1 – 40 per week
