Our client Himalaya Restaurant a busy Indian-Pakistani Cuisine Restaurant is looking for an experienced and skilled Indian-Pakistani Cuisine Chef with a professional approach and skilled in managing and preparing various dishes from the Indian Cuisine in Tandoor and Curry sections.
Number of Positions: 2 Chefs

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must have full-time working experience in Indian Kitchen
  • Must have good knowledge of Indian Curries
  • Must have good knowledge of Tandoori Cuisine – All tikkas, kebab, naan and rotis
  • Cook in a fast-paced kitchen whilst maintaining effective communication with the team
  • Good working knowledge of safety & Hygiene, and WHS standards
  • Team player with a passion to serve authentic Indian cuisine of excellent standard

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Have an AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma or Certificate IV in Cookery & Hospitality.
  • At least 2 years culinary experience in Indian cuisine in a commercial kitchen
  • Have a passion for food and enjoy working in a busy kitchen environment.

Responsibilities
  • Set up workstations with all the needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Preparation and cooking of all curries and tandoori entrees and mains.
  • Cook all kinds of Indian subcontinental cuisine i.e. south and north Indian food, curry’s etc.
  • Provide training & supervision and coordinate activities of kitchen staffs and other cooks.
  • Maintain Stock rotation, food safety & minimising wastage
  • Daily, Weekly & Monthly cleaning of kitchen and storeroom
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Tracking food cost of the dishes.
  • Maintaining a high standard of hygiene and keep a sanitised and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Contribute to Planning menus and estimating food and labour costs.
  • Organise the supplies of the restaurant including Dairy, Meat, Vegetables, and other Groceries.
  • Ensuring all food operations are compliant with relevant regulations and COVID safety management
