FULL TIME CHEF WANTED!

Be part of Sydney’s first dedicated home of bao, operating since 2013. We’re a popular modern asian eatery with a lively vibe with a prime position on Newtown’s King Street. Our famous house made Baos, Baogers and Bao noodles have been featured by multiple media outlets including Broadsheet, Good Food guide, Timeout, Daily Telegraph, Sydney Morning Herald and more with one of our recipes having been featured in the Broadsheet Cook Book.
We’re looking for a chef to join our happy, tight-knit family and friendly back of house team. Must be hard working, motivated and good under pressure.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Formal qualifications in Commercial Cookery (e.g Certificate IV) highly desirable
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as a chef in a commercial kitchen if no relevant formal qualifications
  • Sound understanding of food safety and WHS standards
  • Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Demonstrated creativity and knowledge of modern Asian cuisine is an advantage

Responsibilities
  • Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
  • Preparing and cooking food to high standards of taste and presentation
  • Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising on procedures to kitchen staff
  • Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations and food safety protocols
  • Collaborating with restaurant management to address food preparation issues
  • Selecting and training kitchen staff where required
  • Freezing and preserving foods where appropriate
