Located on the busy trendy Ocean Beach Road,well known for its commercial Precinct and cultural significance, this groovy and high-end café serves the best coffee and the best food in Sorrento and surrounding areas.

We seek an applicant who:

  • Is an Australian citizen or Australian PR
  • Has experience in putting high quality food on the pass, and maintains high standards

· Has experience in planning menus, preparation, cooking, butchering, or pastry cooking as required.

The role on offer is a permanent long-term full-time position, and will sit within an established team, with long-term goals and new opportunities on the horizon.

Your tasks and duties in the kitchen will include:

  • Planning menu and introducing innovative dishes in consultation with our Executive Chef
  • Food preparation and monitoring quality of dishes for both a la carte and function service
  • Demonstration of cooking techniques and advising on cooking procedures.
  • Food service, across all sections in the kitchen, including discussing food preparation issues with the manager, dietician, and kitchen staff
  • Stock control and management, including ordering, examining and storing food stock
  • Maintaining compliance with food safety and hygiene, and strictly implementing our OH&S policies

· Exercise responsibility for the direct supervision of other cooks and other kitchen/catering staff in the restaurant kitchen and other catering services, including allocation of duties, preparation of rosters, approval of overtime and training of all kitchen staff in the absence of our Head Chef.
· Monitor cleaning rosters and food hygiene practices in the kitchen.
· Managing the training and development of apprentice cooks and other staff in the kitchen and other catering services in consultation with our Executive Chef.
· To develop and implement workplace policies and procedures as directed by the Head Chef or the Hotel Management.
· Implement OH&S policies rigorously
· To perform all duties consistent with the Vision, Mission, Values and policies of Buckley Sorrento and Statutory requirements.
You must hold AQF Diploma of Hospitality, AQF Certificate IV and AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and he/she should have at least 2 years’ relevant work experience as a Chef in reputed restaurants/cafes in Australia. You must be an Australian citizen or Australian PR.
This position will be subject to probationary period up to 3 months. This opportunity is perfect for an experienced Chef who has passion for food and cooking.
