CHEF/COOK

Catered Affairs is seeking an experienced chef or cook, starting immediately. We are looking for an enthusiastic and eager candidate, who takes directions well and isn’t shy of asking questions. Must be self-motivated and comfortable working in a large kitchen producing large yields of creative product. You will be working with a kitchen team of between 2 -5 Kitchen members. Our menu is internationally diverse based on the clients. Catering is an event-driven business so scheduling will be constructed accordingly. Evening and weekend shifts are mandatory but does not happen all the time. We do not work on holidays:)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2 yrs of supervisory culinary experience
  • Proficient in preparing meals for large groups. Food costing/portioning is imperative
  • Takes directions and gives instructions well
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs (23kg)
  • Evening and Weekend shifts are manditory
  • Must have valid driver’s license in good standing within Ontario
  • Police Vulnerable Sector check required
  • Ability to create innovative menus that are appealing to the nature of our market
  • Knowledge of various international cuisines
  • Ability to stand 100% of the time
  • Culinary Diploma an asset but not necessary
  • Smart serve an asset
    $$$ Wage will be negotiated based on skills and experience.
Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the Catering Team; providing a high level of production and service to customers
  • Prepare and cook complete meals for groups of varying sizes (i.e. corporate gatherings and weddings) for groups of 10 to 1000 people
  • Oversee kitchen operations; maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment
  • Help plan and conceptualize meal productions and oversee presentation to customers
  • Provide guidance and insight to staff; communication and teamwork skills imperative
  • Flexible in availability; we are a year-round, seasonally-focused business (i.e.working evenings and weekends in the summer months)
  • Work both in our industrial kitchen and kitchens at various venues and residences
  • Abbitily so prep and execute multiple functions daily
  • Attention to detail & open to taking instruction and welcome to feedback
  • Work in a cleanly and sanitized manner
  • Some shifts will be off site.
  • Loading and unloading events.
  • An eye for creating beautiful creative food displays and presentation
