Cafe Norah Driffield is the second of our independent Cafes/Bistros. This is an exciting opportunity for a chef / cook where you can be creative and imaginative and provide lovely fresh dishes using locally sourced ingredients. We are professional, creative and rewarding. This post is mainly day time with occasional evenings

Do you want to join a friendly, creative team? Have the space to be innovative and cook with good quality locally sourced ingredients? We are a family run business looking for enthusiastic individuals.
Working alongside the Head Chef you will be required to prepare and send out high quality dishes that look and taste fantastic. You should be able to delegate tasks to kitchen staff (when the Head Chef is not available) to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner. Also, you should be familiar with sanitation regulations.
Ultimately, you’ll prepare and deliver a complete menu that delights our guests.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

  • Proven work experience as a Chef or Cook
  • Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment
  • Baking skills desirable
  • Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
  • Excellent time management abilities
  • Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes
  • Familiarity with sanitation regulations
  • Culinary school diploma preferred
    Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
    Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients
  • Cook food in a timely manner
  • Delegate tasks to kitchen staff - when required
  • Inform wait staff about daily specials
  • Ensure appealing plate presentation
  • Slightly modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy)
  • Monitor food stock and place orders
  • Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items
  • Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area
