Description:

Your Role at St John of God Geraldton Hospital
As Chef/Cook, you will prepare, cook and present meals for patients and staff of the hospital, which are of a high standard of excellence in accordance with the Australian Dietary Standards.

The Position

  • Proficient in all aspects of hospital cooking ie. Cyclic menus, vegetarian dishes, special diets and function catering
  • Prepare and cook dishes as directed by the Head Chef
  • Direct catering staff as required in preparation of ingredients for dishes
  • Have a sound knowledge of and monitor kitchen staff in the principals of food, personal and kitchen hygiene
  • Assist with the development of caregivers with On The Job Training
  • Actively participate in Quality Caring Activities
  • Competent in the operation of all catering equipment and able to demonstrate operational procedures of kitchen equipment

To succeed, you will have previous experience in the preparation and cooking of food in accordance with production schedules and hold a recognised Chef Trade Certificate / Certificate III in Commercial Cookery. You will also possess sound knowledge of all aspects of hospital and function cooking, have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Hourly rate: $38.12 to $43.16 (inclusive of 25% casual loading) + 11.5% superannuation
