Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Vatika Indian Restaurant is seeking a skilled and passionate Chef/Cook to join our team. As a full-time chef/Cook, you will be responsible for preparing authentic Indian dishes and ensuring quality, consistency, and presentation across our menu. You’ll work in a collaborative kitchen environment, maintaining high standards of food hygiene and service efficiency.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
  • Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Discussing food preparation issues with Managers and waiting staff
  • Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
  • Preparing and cooking traditional Indian dishes to a high standard
  • Explaining and enforcing hygiene and food safety regulations
  • Selecting and training kitchen staff as required
  • Freezing and preserving foods when necessary
  • Working with kitchen staff to ensure timely service and smooth workflow
  • Assisting in menu planning and development of new items
  • Mentoring junior staff and providing training when needed
