Description

Future Future
A full-time Chef de Partie role at Future Future.
Future Future is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, are passionate about food presentation and love working with quality ingredients, then this is the role for you!
Reporting directly to the Executive Chef & Senior Sous Chef, you will be responsible for the efficient and the smooth operation of the kitchen and the services you are involved in.
About Us
Since 2018, Future Future has been serving casual yet contemporary Japanese cuisine, inspired by Japan’s lively izakayas but with a distinctly Melbourne feel. Our kitchen is led by Executive Chef Atsushi Kawakami, who brings over 20 years of expertise in Japanese cuisine.

About the Venue

  • Located in Richmond – a dynamic hospitality and business hub
  • Modern Japanese-inspired menu with a focus on seasonality and local produce
  • Two-level dining space including private dining rooms, outdoor areas—accomodating up to 130pax
  • Dinner service Tuesday – Saturday, lunch service Friday and Saturday
  • A casual, lively and refined dining experience

About the Menu
At Future Future, our menu is ingredient-driven, seasonal, and contemporary, with a mix of adventurous and classic dishes. Expect a balance of modern and traditional Japanese techniques, including the use of a Hibachi Grill, minimal-waste practices, and a dedication to quality produce.
About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Chef, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of service while working across multiple sections. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills in grill work, precise plating, and traditional Japanese cooking techniques.

What We’re Looking For

  • 1 year of experience in a similar role
  • A passion for Japanese cuisine, quality ingredients and food presentation
  • Strong understanding of food safety, preparation, and service
  • Ability to stay focused under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
  • A team player with great communication and organisation skills
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends

What We Offer

  • Training on Hibachi Grill techniques and Japanese cooking methods
  • A tight-knit, collaborative team that values growth and creativity
  • Consistent hours with two consecutive days off
  • A central Richmond location with easy transport access
  • Staff days out and training opportunities
