Full job description

You will work in the kitchen of a hotel in the Den Bosch region with an à la carte restaurant, banqueting facilities, and parties of up to several hundred guests. You will earn €3,300 to €3,600 gross per month for 38 hours, excluding 8% holiday allowance. A four-day work week is negotiable. This is a permanent position and not a temp agency; you will be employed by the client.

WHAT YOU DO

You run your own section and are responsible for it from order to service. You cook à la carte and for parties, two kitchens with very different rhythms. You monitor mise en place, portioning, and cost price at your station. You train interns and trainees working at your section, and you fill in for the sous-chef when they are absent.

WHAT YOU GET

3,300 to 3,600 euros gross per month for 38 hours. Where you fall within that range depends on your skills and experience. Plus 8% holiday allowance, 25 vacation days, and travel expense reimbursement.

A four-day work week is negotiable. We will agree during the first interview whether that will be four days of nine and a half hours while maintaining your full-time salary, or four days of eight with a pro-rata salary.

The schedule extends well in advance so you can plan your days off. There is room to advance to sous-chef when that position becomes available. And you have a dedicated contact person at STRIFE who answers when you call.

WHAT YOU NEED TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT

A hotel kitchen thrives when the rest of the staff is off. Weekends and evenings are part of the job, and during the banqueting season, some weeks are busier than others. If you are looking for a nine-to-five from Monday to Friday, this is the wrong kitchen. We would rather say that now than after three weeks.

WHAT WE ASK

At least five years of experience as a cook, demonstrable at your own station. You know the difference between à la carte and banqueting and are comfortable with both. You work independently at your station and do not need anyone supervising you. You are familiar with HACCP and adhere to it even when no one is watching. Weekend and evening shifts are not an issue. A driver's license and own transport are required, as this location is difficult to reach by public transport at closing time. Dutch or English at a level where you can read and pass on a receipt.
